NAAD, Co.
Cork This is a large stone that seems to have ended up on the roadside after a rockfall. The inscription was carved into the stone. The stone has recently been painted over and the inscription, "John O'Neill, Brosna, 1838", traced in white paint. The only explanation I can think of for this inscription is that it was just graffiti from almost two centuries ago. Perhaps John O'Neill was a traveller with time on his hands? Brosna is a small village near Abbeyfeale Co Limerick, 25 miles as the crow flies and a much, much longer distance by road from the location of this stone between Naad and Banteer in North Cork
