IRISH ROADSIDE MEMORIALS

Ireland is covered in memorials, so when I began to interest myself in their details and locations I realised I could never get around to all of them. For this reason I have confined myself to Memorials to Road Accident Victims.
Most of the other memorals can be classified under one of these headings: Military (places where people were killed during the War of Independence or the Civil War); Historical Figures (statues etc.); Historic Events (battles, locations associated with the Great Famine, cultural and industrial milestones); Artists (writers, painters, musicians -- where they were born, lived or died).
Each of the above categories contain plenty of material for a big and interesting site and I hope somebody will undertake the task. However, I have come across a small number of memorials which cannot be classified among any of these. I present them here as a small site-within-a-site.
What you will find here are contemporary roadside memorials which are NOT commemorating road accidents or historic, political, artistic and civic persons and events
