Young Girl Murdered

I am very grateful to a visitor to the main 'Roadside' section of the site for putting me straight on the meaning of this memorial, which was featured mistakenly in that section for some years.
"An horrific murder of a young girl, cycling to the village to do her Mother's shopping. This occurred back in the time when murder in Ireland was news. As a native of Clogheen, I remember only too well this dreadful event."

This memorial is about half a mile from the centre of Clogheen, on the road to Ballyporeen
