RIP

"THE patrol car was catapulted some 40 metres before it landed. It was thrown at such speed that it completely flattened two thick, metal traffic poles. The stolen car, an open-top black Mazda sports car, was travelling at "horrific speeds" - reaching over 100 mph - when it hit the passenger side of the patrol car full on. Garda Anthony Tighe, a 53-year-old father of four, from Ranelagh, Dublin and Garda Michael Padden, a single 27-year-old from Belmullet, Co Mayo, died immediately such was the ferocity of the smash."
