THE carnage on the roads
continued yesterday when a woman in her twenties died in a head on crash on the
main Cork/Dublin road. The young woman died when her red Peugeot car, heading
towards Cork, was in collision with a four wheel drive jeep at Bishop's Island,
a mile and a half from Watergrasshill. A third vehicle was also involved in the
collision, but none of the occupants of the other two vehicles received serious
injuries. However, the driver of the jeep and a woman and two children driving
in the third car were all taken to Cork University Hospital where they were
treated for shock. The accident occurred shortly after 8am and the young woman
was pronounced dead at the scene.
