A 21-MONTH-OLD boy was killed when he was run over by a van last night. The child wandered over to a parked van which then moved off and ran over the boy. The tragedy happened at Barberstown Cross in Straffan, Co Kildare shortly before 8pm. The child was a member of the travelling community camped in the area. It is understood he wandered from a caravan towards the van parked nearby. The father and uncle of the boy rushed him to Celbridge garda station where medical assistance was summoned. The toddler was taken to Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin but was dead on arrival.
