LAOIS roads claimed their fifth and sixth victims of 2005 in as many weeks in the early hours of Tuesday morning last when a young couple died when the car they were traveling in was in collision with a bus at Aughafan outside Mountrath at 1.10am.

James Moore, (23) Grangewatt, Tullow, County Carlow and his girlfriend Louise Ryan (21), a native of Limerick, were fatally injured in the crash. The couple were returning to Carlow from an enjoyable visit to Louise’s home in Limerick when the accident occurred. James’s heartbroken parents Jimmy and Betty (née Lawlor) and his family are now grappling to cope with their terrible loss. James was a carpenter by profession and worked in the general Carlow area were he was noted for his craftsmanship and expertise while Louise was studying for her Masters at Maynooth University.
