Four people died in
a head-on crash between two cars four miles north of Arklow on Wednesday night.
Former Senator Michael Enright was cut from the wreckage of his car but he died
shortly after. The other car overturned on impact, bursting into flames, and
all three occupants died instantly. They were Peter Martin (24) from Arklow,
John Redmond (17) from Rathnew and his cousin Joseph Redmond (15) from
Tinahely. A caller to the Gardai at 10.40pm reported a car travelling at
excessive speeds in the area, though the Gardai could not confirm that the
speeding car was the one involved in the collision.
