Western People Wed Feb 25 2004

The weekend before last was a black one for Galway with four people losing their lives on the roads of the county. The first tragedy happened before 8 a.m. on Friday morning at Anbally on the main Tuam to Galway road when Kieran Payne (22) from Corofin died when the car he was driving was in collision with a bus. Kieran was a well known footballer in the area and lined out with Corofin on numerous occasions. He was on his way home after finishing night-shift work in Boston Scientific in Galway. News of his death stunned the Corofin district where Kieran was a popular favourite.
