A Mayo community was in deep
shock, yesterday, following the tragic deaths of two teenagers early yesterday
morning. The accident occurred when the vanette in which they were travelling
careered out of control and hit a railing on the side of the road. John Kenny,
from Ballyhaunis, had just celebrated his 18th birthday on Saturday. The only
child of Tommy and the late Mena Kenny, who died earlier this year, he was
killed instantly in the accident, which also claimed the life of his front-seat
passenger, Ciara Folliard, 17,from Aghamore, outside Ballyhaunis. One of four
children, she had just begun college in Dublin. A third passenger, Nicola
Glavey, from Kilkelly, who was travelling in the front seat of the vanette is
comfortable, in Castlebar Hospital. The accident took place near Bruff Cross
about three miles from Kilkelly.
