These Roadside Memorials are all over
Ireland, commemorating untimely deaths and reminding us of the frailty and
uncertainty of human life. However, given Irish road and traffic conditions,
more often than not ...
- You are driving by so fast that you don't see them
there at all.
- If you happen to notice one, you can't stop in heavy
traffic to read it
- If you do manage to read it, you don't remember
what it was about by the time you get home
Happily, we are not bound by these constraints on the
Information Superhighway! Taking advantage of that fact, this site presents
photographs, locations, descriptions and inscriptions from a huge number of
memorials, monuments, shrines and crosses throughout the whole of
Ireland.

Tens of thousands
of miles travelled, thousands of photographs and a fascination which is
threatening to turn into an obsession. The result is a collection of
memorials which will surprise many by their variety and sheer
number. See if you can spot these sites as you
travel around Ireland. Make the time to stop and say a prayer for the victims
and for all who mourn them. |
Pages are in alphabetical order by Province,
County and Location
You will get a full
listing by clicking on the "Memorials" signpost in the panel on the left. You can also move backward
and forward from any memorial page. |

This
collection is an ongoing project and I have many roads to travel yet. If you
know of a monument in your area which I have not seen, please click on the
Emails button in the left-hand panel. Your contribution will be
acknowledged when the page appears on this site, unless you indicate
otherwise. |
